| Brief Information | On 23 September 2014, the RA Ministry of Diaspora hosted the presentation of The Historical Monuments of Kesab District [in Armenian and English] by Raffi Kortoshian. In her welcoming speech, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobian stressed the importance of the field work carried out by R. Kortoshian in 2006, 2008 and 2010. She also underlined the significance of his studies of the available sources regarding the subject matter. The presentation was attended by numerous scholars and public figures, including Archbishop Hakob Gelenjian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Uruguay; Victor Katvalian, Director of H. Ajarian Institute of Language of the RA National Academy of Sciences; Ashot Melkonian, Director of the History Institute of the RA National Academy of Sciences, etc. The participants of the event also watched a film highlighting the history of the Armenian township of Kesab and the March 2014 deportation of its inhabitants. |
